Shriek had a very overdone backstory trope, sure, but the way it was made is so GOOD. Usually the bad guy himself tells the story and has like an epiphany and everyone starts comforting him, but the story is told by a completely different person, shriek is still a threat and shriek is still filled with hatred. Usually the backstory is where the story ends. with a happy ending. But shriek's backstory was halfway in, and her ending was of the saddest endings for a character i've literally seen in my life.

Man that final phrase he says in X3 really nailed it how much he truly hates X he's willing to haunt him. The way he was fleshed out in MHX made those words even more personal in a way. Kinda wished he made a return in the Zero series to try and go after X again, imagine him having to get through the guardians first.
